Subset - Sky Water (10:40) 24Bit Release I started writing this collection of tracks inspired by sounds of the deep and wanting to explore the more minimal side of the genre, it's something I'm slowly working towards. Throughout the album in amongst the clicks, crackles and hiss are the sounds of a scuba diver breathing through their regulator, it's one of the first sounds heard on the release. It was this sound I wanted to use to try and gel the tracks together, with the seven tracks ranging from those that are more dub-inspired, others more introspective and minimal, and others almost dancefloor friendly. released October 23, 2015 Cover art/ photography by: Karl Muller

Karl Muller is a New Zealand born musician, performer and photographer, currently living in Australia, and one of the key figures in the Oceania electronic scene, with an excellent catalogue of enchanted and sleeky dub techno. When we first listened to this EP, we couldn´t avoid feeling some seasonality in its tones, so we found it perfect to release on the verge of the fall, capturing this unique light and daydreaming feelings. Movement in Sound presents us five pieces where the sound palette draws each tune from the other creating an elegant chain throughout the five tracks, which grow sustained by evocative minimalism and velvety ambient scapes, in a safe, yet circular immersion. While the basis of the eleven tracks are brewed to his usual blend (four parts dub, one part deep house, equal parts minimal and techno) there are new elements at play - horns, unusual time signatures, and older, saturated, lo-fi sounds incorporating heavy amounts of spring reverb, warble, wow and flutter As he puts it "I wanted to experiment further sonically than I had previously - to try and incorporate dub/techno sounds while not tying myself to any particular genre, which is why there are darker, dirtier, heavier moments in there, which I really enjoyed creating and pushing myself into." released October 18, 2019
