Тип рипа: tracks Продолжительность: 20:51 Наличие сканов в содержимом раздачи: cover Tracklist: 01. Speedy J - Red Shift (8:05) 02. Speedy J - Bootes (12:47) Red Shift is Speedy J’s first new techno / dancefloor release since 2006. His own label Electric Deluxe will issue digital releases only, while Vinyl may be released through Plus 8. It will be a platform for artists, operating within any conceivable genre in the broad spectrum of techno, who wish to fully explore and embrace the ever-expanding technological possibilities, manifesting in the label and the Electric Deluxe Events series, currently resident at Melkweg, Amsterdam. Behind the digital decks Speedy J has brought back the innovative spirit which was once at home in this genre, adopting and expanding upon digital DJ-ing. In this way he has opened up an infinite resource, improvising with the widest array of sounds, introducing the concept of creating DJ sets and Productions with ‘parts’. In this spirit he is also about to release a library of sound, appropriately called Kreate. It is a huge collection of parts and may be seen as an album deliberately left unfinished. Speedy J is well known for his bridge-building openmindedness, showcased, for instance, on releases in collaboration with Chris Liebing, Literon, George Issakidis and Adam Beyer. Through the format of Collabs Speedy J plans on returning to some of these artists as well as meeting with new names for future collaborations. When teaming up with video artist Scott Pagano in 2007, the result was the free-for-download DVD Umfeld, a precedent set for the interdisciplinary exploration of Dolby 5.1 and the spatiality of surround-sound. Electric Deluxe again finds Speedy J in the forefront of musical developments, where he is most at home, inviting anyone to tag along for the ride. released May 30, 2014 Written and produced by Jochem Paap ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Speedy J & Chris Liebing - Magnit (Tool 1) (11:56) 03. Collabs ft. Speedy J & Chris Liebing - Magnit (Tool 2) (9:21) Speedy J and Chris Liebing need no introduction – they’re unarguably two of techno’s most revered artists and DJs. Following Speedy J’s ‘Red Shift’, ‘Magnit EP’ continues a collaboration aimed at going beyond the current standards, blurring the lines between live performance and digital DJing, fusing subversive electronics and peak time techno. While each has their unique style in production and performance, it’s common to both to lead a trail of Techno superlatives. Since the early nineties, Speedy J released on labels like Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8, Warp and Novamute, Chris Liebing featured Eye-Q, Fine Audio Recordings, and Mute. Both now run their own imprints and event platforms, Electric Deluxe and CLR / Spinclub. After the critically acclaimed first release ‘Red Shift’ (edlx.001), ‘Magnit EP’ will be a release in two parts. The digital release includes two additional tool versions for each track. This reflects the way Speedy J and Chris Liebing have been performing since the start of their collaboration. The vinyl release in will feature both tracks. Joining forces, they combine masterly experimental sound manipulation and design with peak time techno drama, creating magnificent main floor magnets. Both with now two decades of live and production experience, Chris Liebing and Jochem Paap (aka Speedy J) started working together in 2001, and pioneered blurring the lines between live and DJ performance as they fused Traktor and other software technology on 4 laptops with hardware such as Machine Drum and 303’s to create a fully integrated set: the live Collabs session. They brought back the innovative spirit which was once at home in this genre and opened up an infinite resource, improvising with the widest array of sounds. This logically led to introducing the concept of creating DJ sets and productions with “parts”, like loops, samples, basslines, sound effects, or any conceivable combination of these. Musically the focus is a highly danceable and energetic sound, much like the sets the audience knows from them as individual performers, but even more dynamic, varied and adventurous, easily keep the audience at high alert through performances lasting for 4-hours and longer. Not only setting the bar for peak hour Techno madness, Electric Deluxe again becomes the platform for open minded artists showcasing the value of creative synergy using newest technology, this time injected with the experience and expertise unique to Speedy J and Chris Liebing. released May 30, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Speedy J & Chris Liebing - Maggie (Toy 1) (9:54) 03. Collabs ft. Speedy J & Chris Liebing - Maggie (Toy 2) (7:07) The great techno love affair between German DJ Chris Liebing and Dutch techno pioneer Speedy J continues with ‘Maggie’, one of the most powerful tools currently doing the rounds in techno clubs. ‘Maggie’ sounds like the name of cute girl, and indeed the 122 BPM rate of the track does suggest it could be more of a waltz than a fist pumper, but make no mistake, this is the perfect track to drop when you want to take your set balls to the wall. With bone-crushing hi hats, head banging FX and gut wrenching stabs, ‘Maggie’ needs only to be pitched up for her brute force to be fully realized. Open your next set with this, go on, we dare you. released May 30, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Speedy J & George Issakidis - Sculpture Chisel (Tool 2) (7:23) This next release on Electric Deluxe will continue the story of George Issakidis’ and Speedy J’s Collabs. Back in 1999, George contacted Speedy J for a remix of a Micronauts track: “The Jag”. They became friends and Speedy J invited him to do some tracks together as part of his Collabs series on Novamute (Collabs 400 & 401). After his Milestone Albums on Novamute, and the successful releases on Electric Deluxe ‘Red Shift’ and with Chris Liebing ‘Magnit / Maggie’ Jochem Paap aka Speedy J needs no introduction. His musical vision is genre blurring, creative freedom at the highest level of innovation and quality, his current project Open Collabs is a public collaboration of epic proportions that builds a community, which will result in a conceptual album this year. Meanwhile his work was featured in magazines like Groove, Beat, Raveline and Resident Advisor, reviewed all over the world, and his Podcasts for Tsugi, XLR8R and Samurai FM still circulate heavily on the web, as well as all his releases. Artist like Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing, Surgeon, Selway, Adam Beyer, Matt John, Len Faki, Agoria, Laurent Garnier, Redshape, Sandwell District, Miss Kittin rely on his tracks for their sets – His performances were celebrated by the crowd and promoters alike, at venues like Berghain and Melkweg, or while headlining last years DEMF festival in Detroit. George, previously part of the Micronauts (remixing Underworld, OMD, 16Bit, The Chemical Brothers) custom codes software for his audiovisual performances, seen at Sketch (London) VideA (Barcelona) Placard (Tokyo) and Icram (Paris). While usually traveling the world as a modern bohemian, he resurfaces for remixes of Soft Pink Truth, Colder, Krikor and Passarella Death Squad as well as his own productions on his label The Republic Of Desire, and collaborations with his friend Speedy J. George’s work has found huge support by James Holden, Ivan Smagghe, Chloe, Trevor Jackson, Troy Pierce, Damian Lazarus and Konrad Black. They found that when working together, they‘d bring out each others love for drugged-up-sci-fi-future-designer-retro-dub-sex-funk-electro-hop-acid-bass music, and that’s really all they wanted to do, a fun, artistic statement in techno. The resulting ‘Sculpture’ is a mind bending, high tech funk statement, with a massively pushing groove behind it. The original 1989 version revisits their roots, using analog equipment from the days of acid to recreate a classic yet twisted sound, including the vinyl crackle… released May 30, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Terence Fixmer - Machine (Fixmer's 6 AM Dub Version) (6:07) 04. Terence Fixmer - Machine (Tool) (3:48) Prepare for some heavyweight infusion. This is minimal, but forget about the oh so funny irony this genre got diluted with. You won’t be asked to maybe shake a hip, this beat will take over your world. Once you start this machine there’s no turning back. It will do the job at full steam, and it’s been programmed well. While it’s steady pounding will take care of your movement functions, it’s disrupting sound spheres take your mind to the realm of it’s core. This patent produces euphoria industrially, and its product scales for any floor. But oh, it’s a French machine of the Fixmer brand, so it’s sexy as hell and dark as fuck. While you scream with your hands up in the air, it will push more and more serotonin into your cells, relentless, efficient, tireless, precise, beyond human. Machine. Speedy J: “I’ve always been a fan of Terence’s sound. I love the unique fuse between Industrial, Techno, Minimal, and EBM.” So when Terence hit him up with ‘Machine’, he knew it was time for an Electric Deluxe release. His remix pays tribute to Terence’s unbroken integrity in style. Well over the top, you can hear how much fun he had with this one in the studio. Speedy J knows what his tracks do on the floor, and this one is just ridiculous. Talk about blowing up a club with a dark grin and a boyish smile at the same time. released May 30, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Tommy Four Seven - Surma (Chris Liebing Re-mixed) (8:58) 04. Tommy Four Seven - Surma (T47 Tool) (5:17) Electric Deluxe welcomes Tommy Four Seven to the family. Both Chris Liebing and Speedy J have been playing ‘Surma’ as a highlight in almost every set for the last 5 months, building alternate versions on the fly. As a result, both spontaneously made mixes, and Tommy added a kick ass tool. ‘Surm’a is beautifully dark, yet the main theme is really catchy and always invokes instant crowd response. Noise for the boys and bass for the girls! Rave alarm signals keep whipping up the steady pushing groove with a fat bottom end, Techno, Ambient and House are utilized for one sinister intention, to drive the crowd mad… the Electric Deluxe definition of Deep Techno. Speedy J quote: “I have been following Tommy‘s releases for a while, most of his tracks have been in my playlists. ‘Surma’ came together in stages, it has had various incarnations. When he sent the final version, I was instantly blown away.“ Dark, raw and sweaty environments are where you’re most likely to find Tommy Four Seven, filling the void between house and techno since 2005. Tommy’s been steadily building his catalogue of strong, moody and hypnotic dancefloor destroyers such as early hits on Parisian label, Kill Brique and recent recordings for Wolfskuil Records, Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe and Chris Liebing’s CLR, as well as remixes for the likes of Josh Wink and Darko Esser. His approach to music is unlike a musician. Instead, Tommy prefers to sound design, recording and sculpting elements into deep engaging atmospheres. It’s this production ethos Tommy also applies in the club, morphing from tech-house, to the darker realms of techno. “I always keep the foundations deep and hypnotic, a vibe I feel that creates more of a connection.” Electric deluxe aims to release music that has personality and unique character; ‘Surma’ totally fits the profile and at the same time it‘s an amazing dance floor record. released May 30, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Terence Fixmer - Electric City (Function Remix) (9:47) 04. Terence Fixmer - Electric City (Speedy J Tool) (7:03) 05. Terence Fixmer - Electric City (Terence Fixmer Tool) (4:46) Terence Fixmer returns on Electric Deluxe, with two strong tracks in his signature style. On top, we are proud to have Function on board, with a deep and out there remix that’s exploring the artistic freedom Electric Deluxe is the platform for. Unique to all Electric Deluxe releases are the Tool versions, this time crafted by Speedy J and Terence Fixmer himself. Icon of the electronic North of France, Terence Fixmer is one of France’s most treasured protagonists of the techno scene, of which he has been at the forefront for over 10 successful years. Terence’s music appeals as much to dancing feet, as it does to the searching soul. Keeping it rough around the edges. A pioneer, he above all preserves an original style, at once recognizable, that beats at the heart of contemporary techno production. Function, one of Techno’s true underground heroes, has been DJing and making music for over 15 years. Recently moved from his NYC home to Berlin he’s still working with Regis, setting up the acclaimed Sandwell District imprint, kicking against minimal blandness with dynamic, harder-edged yet curiously accessible techno. “Electric City (original)” is a classic industrial Techno track combining the driving force of relentless beats and bass with the huge rooms the that Roland drum machines open up when you put massive reverb on them. It’s hypnotic and psychotic sounds appeal to the primal side, driving you to forget about coolness and unconditionally express yourself to the beat. Uplifiting and dark at the same time, Electric City echoes the high tech metropolitain dystopia we live in today. “Echoes” presents itself with a forward marching industrial beat, piercing synth lines, and sweat inducing rhythmic patterns. Its psycho bleeps are pure industrial funk. When the vocal sets in you’ll feel the relief on the dancefloor as the straight forward groove brings out the primal need to put your energy and emotion into expression: dance. Function’s remix of “Electric City” is dark as fuck, slow and massive. It retains the hypnotizing/ head fuck/ paranoia vibe through the track, while it swims in a subtle ocean of white noise. Function’s trademark shuffling dub sounds and the 808 rim shot with that huge reverb keep you moving, while the dark and evil drone sounds lead through the entire track. Darkness is when the only thing you can hold on to surrounds you, and is what scares you the most. Its slow build up, and by slow we mean Berghain-slow, spoiled by the absence of peak time pressure in this special place create the drama, a sound dedicated to the deep below. released May 30, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Speedy J - Trails (Edit Select Tool 01) (8:16) 06. Speedy J - Trails (Edit Select Tool 02) (8:08) The legend returns with an incredible body of work. Similar to ‘Red Shift / Bootes’ (EDLX.001) he’s walking the line between cutting edge electronica and modern Techno. Staying true to the Electric Deluxe philosophy of leaving room for interpretation and live remixing, the EP can be viewed as a finished body of work as much as a toolkit for digital DJs. Speedy J himself doesn’t need introduction – we rather need a catch up on the multitude of projects he’s involved in. Apart from busy tour schedule, headlining the biggest clubs and festivals worldwide, Speedy J’s put a serious foundation to his new platform. Since the launch of his label Electric Deluxe in 2008, releases by Tommy Four Seven, Terence Fixmer, George Issakidis and of course Speedy J himself made waves worldwide. Also Speedy J’s events Electric Deluxe presents… advanced to the most anticipated Techno events series in the Netherlands and is currently expanding to festivals and other territories. On top, he is constantly pushing digital music boundaries, with projects like Umfeld, Open Collabs, Kreate, and his 9 hour performances on two laptops. Edit Select aka Tony Scott doesn’t need much of an introduction either, putting 20 years of music and DJ experience into his work. 2007 Tony Scott started his alter ego-project Edit Select. Since then his releases on his own self titled imprint have been celebrated by the biggest names to quote in this genre and successively picked up by the most influential labels in Techno today. The vinyl A side “Trails” (original) is the dignified successor to “Red Shift”, though a yet more advanced display of Speedy J’s creativity, flow and production wizardry. Ethereal sounds create space, while surgically compressed bass is sucking us into the groove. A creamy sound, dusty yet smooth and fine grained, with intimate and compact mixing. In the end you find yourself nodding the head to the tune long after it ran out.. On the B side “Trails” (Edit Select remix) is the floor interpretation, holding high the torch of modern loopy Techno at minus 8. All rave signals pushing, this one is holding the listener on a plateau that seems to rise constantly. No security fence keeping you from falling down the rabbit hole that lurks on the edge. Bass is constantly rolling and pumping from below, snare rolls release adrenalin pushing in and out topped by white noise. The syncopated off-beat groove creates the flowing drive you never want to end. Not limited by the medium, digitally ‘Trails EP’ goes beyond with four bonus tracks & tools. “Edit Select Hooked Remix” is the more atmospheric, subtle and humble brother of Edit Select’s remix on the wax, not differing in intensity but in use of rave signals. Being deeper, and bigger on the low end, it’s closer to the original, also featuring some of the original melodic ambiance. “Speedy J Bonus Beats Dub Tool” – What seems like the bare bones of the original at first reveals to be an epic jam, seamlessly making the connection between usability and artistry. All sorts of industrial / Techno sounds are present, you could play them as a minimal track, as laid back Chicago House or you could just loop the parts and sounds and play over multiple decks… A sonic experience that leaves you feeling warped and light headed. “Edit Select Tools 1 & 2″ are the tools for digital DJs. “Tool 1″ focuses on the mid range elements of the rhythmic parts and ambient sounds, while “Tool 2″ provides you with all the high frequency parts of the mix you need. released May 31, 2014 Written & Produced by Jochem Paap ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Those who witnessed the infamous Audio Injection vs. Drumcell collaborative 6 hour set at Berghain in May could sense the raw and direct path of the uncompromising heavy bass-lines they walk on. Yet they possess a subtle sensitivity making this audio experience a physical and mental journey at the same time. With his first EP on Electric Deluxe, Audio Injection captured this dark and raw spirit in a perfect way. His tracks move effortlessly from percussive high hat funk to heavy bass-line assault, call it Techno coolness. All tracks are dancefloor focused, but contain a healthy dose of weirdness, giving the them longevity while still being functional, spot-on material for the floors – typical for Electric Deluxe releases. The Vinyl version of ‘Operation A’ is being accompanied by none other than Speedy J himself. The Remix has his signature flow; shifting, rich soundscapes layered over a forward bassline sketch. Music for minds in dark places. The Digital EP includes a Drumcell Remix – the Los Angeles Warehouse heavyweight gives the track an uplifting percussive vibe, while keeping the darkness and heavy bass of the original intact. As with any Electric Deluxe release, Operation A includes tools for the digital performers, this time by Audio Injection and Speedy J. Audio Injection is also working on solo projects for Droid, as well as on collaborations with Drumcell, and Raiz (formerly Acid Circus). His next release on Drumcell’s Droid will be coming out in August. Previous remixes by him and Drumcell where picked by Chris Liebing for CLR. With Audio Injection and Drumcell joining the Electric Deluxe release schedule, the label is getting closer to presenting the whole picture of it’s extended international family of artists, all of whom are in close communication with Speedy J day in day out. Connected by the common passion for new technology and dance music beyond traditional borders, they create unforgettable experiences, be it at the infamous Electric Deluxe presents event series, the Electric Deluxe Podcast, or with releases on the label part of this community. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

He already released two solo albums on DJ Hell’s Gigolo, the seminal ‘Muscle Machine’ single-handedly spearheading a new style, “Techno Body Music”. This was a unique combination of modern Techno and EBM of the founding fathers from Nitzer Ebb (Whom Terence still has the Fixmermcarthy project with) and Front 242. His third album, ‘Fiction Fiction’ was released on Terence Fixmer’s own imprint Planete Rouge in 2009 with a more deep ambiance, almost cinematic, palpable emotion and hypnotic rhythms. ‘Fiction Fiction’ already showed the evolution in Terence Fixmer’s sound. While focussing on EBM exclusively with his Fixmermcarthy project, while shifting his solo productions and performances towards his unique interpretation of Techno today. A scene Terence is no stranger to – with working for Attack records, founded by his friend Emmanuel Top, and releases on Music Man, Datapunk, and Novamute he helped developing this genre since the early nineties. The album With ‘Comedy Of Menace’ Terence Fixmer created a true techno album, with an instantly recognizable pure sound, a deep and dark atmosphere throughout. The Album is in many ways hypnotizing and mental, yet keeps the energy and a effectiveness for the dancefloor. Terence explains: “I wanted that people can feel a soul, a story, and the sound of every track to open up the imagination of the listener, creating images in their minds… Its an art and a passion, my heart is bumping for electronic sounds. I love when the music is really coming from the heart of the machine, when the sound is pure and raw”. ‘Comedy Of Menace’ can be attributed to English cineast Harold Pinter. “’Comedy of Menace’ suggests that although they are funny, they are also frightening or menacing in a vague and undefined way. Even as they laugh, the audience are unsettled, ill at ease and uncomfortable.” Besides the Album release in September, the EP ‘Comedy Of Menace pt 1.’ will be released with a Planetary Assault System mix. Remixes of Masuki’s Vix on Chicago label Prosthetic Pressings, Traversable Wormhole on Chris Liebing’s CLR and Echologist aka Brendon Moeller will appear in the coming months. With ‘Comedy Of Menace’ Terence Fixmer created a true techno album, with an instantly recognizable pure sound, a deep and dark atmosphere throughout. On Top, his EP on Tiga’s Turbo will hit this late summer. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Phil Kieran - Empty Vessels (Gary Beck Remix Tool 3) (6:04) Empty Vessels EP is Phil Kieran’s debut on Electric Deluxe. First making his name as much-loved resident DJ at the legendary Shine club in his hometown of Belfast, Phil Kieran has transitioned from local hero to main stage headliner in grand style. His debut Album ‘Shh’ was released with one of the worlds leading techno labels in 2009, Cocoon recordings. For more than a decade now, Phil Kieran and Speedy J have deeply respected each others music, and shared profound knowledge and interest in pushing music with technology. When hearing ‘Empty Vessels’ for the first time, Speedy J’s attention was immediately sparked. The A Side ‘Empty Vessels’ starts off the EP with a stripped down, swinging groove. Custom subtle, tripped out sounds flavored from Industrial, House, and just straight alien and disturbing origin are shifting, moving and melting this unique techno hybrid. The B Side ‘Empty Vessels (Gary Beck remix)’ is dedicated to the dance floor in a more traditional form, while far from following a template. A cool groove, dusty bass drum and huge rim shots create a framework for noise build-ups and Gary’s own treatment of the already deranged original sounds. In all weirdness, the mix leaves no doubt about direction – it grabs you with brute uplifting energy and sends you straight to rave heaven. The Digital version is accompanied by 3 Tools, as customary to any Electric Deluxe release: Tool 1 by Phil Kieran ‘Empty Vessels’ is opening Phil’s magic tricks box, putting his custom, weirdly vintage sounds at your fingertips to add lot’s of flavor to any mix. Tool 1 by Gary Beck ‘Empy Vessels Remix Tool 1’ is instant rave euphoria. This takes care of all your fat bottom bassdrum and high frequency buildup needs. Tool 2 by Gary Beck ‘Empty Vessels Remix Tool 2’ gives you the middle and high frequency bite of his remix, with the distinct vintage feel of the original. The inspiration behind ‘Empty Vessels’ was to create an ‘empty’ but stark and atmospheric piece of music, living from the space and gaps between the frequencies and leaving room for imagination, for breath, for soul. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Hypnotizing and mental in many ways, ‘Comedy of Menace Part 2′ reflects the character of his full length, and shows once more the versatility in Terence Fixmer’s productions. Reworks by artists such as Niederflur and Brendon Moeller pay tribute in an equally varied way. The vinyl includes the dubby and light original of “Phantoms”, and the sensitive rework by Nieder- flur on the A side, who transform the original into a more driven and dancefloor appealing techno track, without loosing the originals tender essence. The B side presents the hypnotic original “Breathless” and Brendon Moeller’s remix of “Things Are Over”. Applying his very own dub techno fingerprint and creating a timeless soulful groove monster, it’s shifting your reality from head to toe. Digitally the EP is accompanied by a heavy “Last Heroes Dark Tool” by Terence Fixmer and Speedy J’s disrupting bass hybrid ‘Things Are Over Bonus Beats”. True to Electric Deluxe label philosophy, every artist is represented with his very own distinct sound, regardless of commercial aspects. Endless is inspired by the more hypnotic and psychedelic forms of techno. The middle ground where drone & ambient music meets techno. Giorgio Gigli being directly influenced by his love of Brian Eno, Byetone and Robert Henke whilst Perc seeking for sounds of Irdial and Ifach when they started to work on the pool of sounds. Each track built upon the classic rhythms of early analogue drum machines, opening up the minimalistic aesthetic that runs through Giorgio’s tracks whilst smoothing some of the abrasive qualities that make Perc’s percussive storms so recognizable. The ‘Area’ EP is starting off with “SG8″ a crafted bass drum formed and fused with hypnotic drones creating a deep helical groove. “00165″ on the heavy side a track shifting and shaping in a never ceased to please tension in sound and space. “EHDC” impresses with its sublime phonic density and tight bass drum sounds. True to the Electric Deluxe philosophy each of the tracks is accompanied with a tool giving digital DJs advanced possibilities of improvisation; easy to blend yet with distinct features. With further tracks still to emerge no one is sure where this collaboration will head next, but one clue may lie in their soon to be unleashed performances showcasing a fusing of live and DJing, analogue and digital. With both producers have already proven themselves as accomplished DJs, their forthcoming performances, like their tracks will be something to savour. Gary Beck - Egoist (Gary Beck Tool) (6:44) After his highly acclaimed remix of Phil Kieran’s ‘Empty Vessels’ one of the most prolific and inventive producers in the current electronic music scene returns to Electric Deluxe: Gary Beck with an EP of his own, ‘Egoist’. Created sometime last year during a dark and stormy night in Glasgow, the track with the promising title `Egoist’ was at first about to be forgotten. At some point `Egoist’ ended up in Speedy J’s hands, who immediately decided to play it; ‘Egoist’ proved its name, “ripping apart every dance floor every time it got dropped”. Surprisingly the track had not been released yet. Things led to a collaborative work on remixes and tools in Speedy J’s studio and a forgotten track became the strong backbone and theme to a whole EP. The vinyl A Side of course is the infamous “Egoist” starting off with a reduced groove and a compact rolling bass drum, evolving in a echoing snare – hi-hat inferno. But “Egoist” is more than just an efficient dance floor weapon. With the inventively used subtle vocal samples and its sexy groove this track creates a cool which just goes beyond. The B Side “Speedy J’s Dub Tool” is the floor interpretation, the heavy Dub Tool brother of “Egoist”. A dark and rock solid bass drum is constantly rolling and pumping, snare rolls pushing in and out topped by white noise create an adrenaline fueled ride you never want to end. The digital release of ‘Egoist’ EP contains two bonus tracks and tools. One is a joint forces remix created by Speedy J and Gary Beck giving us best of both worlds in an astonishing organic thriving Track reemphasizing the sound modulation aspects without ever losing sight of the dance floor. Number two is a tool created by Speedy J and Gary Beck focusing on the mid range elements claps, rolling snares and echoing ambient sounds and vocals. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Amorphous drone sounds, dusty yet smooth and intimate, create a monumental space, while a pulsing sub-bass is luring you into the groove. The idea behind this project is to explore the recording techniques used in the middle of the 20th century and dating right back to the mid 1950’s. Famous inspirational places like ‘BBC Radiophonic Workshops’ in England and ‘Philips Lab’ in Holland have seen some of the most innovative production techniques, experimenting with the first use of stereo, modular synths, found sounds and reel to reel tapes. The end result was always something space age and promisingly futuristic and still to this day fresh sounding, crisp and exciting. Phil Kieran and Jochem Paap have decided to use this inspiration to effortlessly accomplish marrying the past, present and future in an innovative mix of old ideas with new. As Phil Kieran explains: “We want to try and create our sound source from a vintage palette, and then take it into something very high tech, we recorded some of these first ideas at Jochem’s studio in Rotterdam. I feel like we are only scratching the surface and I am so excited to really dig deep with this idea”. The first Issue of ‘Workshops Vol.1 EP’ consist of three flowing tracks with an inimitable organic and atmospheric appeal. A1: “Paint and Chemicals Dept. Dub” is the most dance floor focused of the bunch. A dense and hypnotic bass drum blended with sublime layers of echoing soundscapes. B1: “Wood and Organic Dept” starts off with a pendular bass which melts with drippy spaced out sounds to create a blissful audiocity through vintage sounds and time. B2: “Wood and Organic Dept. Dub” the heavy cousin of B1 which leads back to the dancefloor with its raw industrial frequency build-ups and an uncompromising massive bass drum. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Back Pack Poets - Objective T (8:21) Back Pack Poets bumped into each other by coincidence while touring in America. Because of the bad weather their flights got diverted to Alaska where the three of them got stranded. All hotels were booked by other passengers in the same situation. Instead of hanging around the overcrowded airport they decided to hit an irish pub to get away from the chaos. After a few rounds of Jack Daniels to ease the sorrow of the situation the three comrades had found themselves in, inspiration struck….. They whipped out a deck of cards and their laptops and set out to create some music on the fly, to vent their frustration. T. was the first to pull an ace so he got the first go. G. and J. could only watch in awe at what he managed to bring to the table. feeling inspired they could only watch T. awaiting their turn. What happened next was a manic game of bouncing ideas, pulling cards, taking turns at throwing in ideas, drinking, drinking more, and drinking more. Miraculously, they had started three monster tracks in 3 hours, but as the time slipped away on went the game which got more intense and violent. Lack of sleep, too much alcohol and frustration started to take it’s toll and caused the game to end up in a bar fight between the three freinds, resulting in laptops flying across the pub, lots of bruises and a night in the airport prison. Luckily, G. managed to upload the files to his usb stick just before things got really bad, and this ep is what was salvaged from their adventure. They haven’t spoke to each other since. but Electric Deluxe decided to release it anyway ;) released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

The Connection EP expands the Endless sound in every direction, simultaneously deeper and yet more confrontational than before. The EP was created by Perc and Giorgio Gigli with one eye on their debut performance as Endless at the end of November 2011 at Berlin’s legendary Berghain, alongside Speedy J, Terence Fixmer and Gary Beck. From the driving yet murky atmosphere of the lead track Synchronizing to the feedback and distortion meltdown of Varying Paths, Endless have created an EP which combines Giorgio and Perc’s signature individual sounds to create something neither producer could make on their own. Across the 3 lead tracks and their respective DJ tools the EP combines ambient soundscapes, rolling drum machine rhythms and modern day techno all infused with a hypnotic, trance-like quality that runs through. released May 31, 2014 Written and produced by Perc & Giorgio Gigli ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Brendon Moeller - Wanderer (Digital Only Version) (7:30) Whetting appetites for ‘Works’—Brendon Moeller’s ninth studio album and his first full-length for Speedy J’s compound techno stable—Electric Deluxe present the ‘Wanderer EP’, with remixes from CLR’s Tommy Four Seven and Argentine vanguard Jonas Kopp. Since relocating to New York from South Africa, Moeller has spent the last twenty years cultivating his dub techno legacy. As Beat Pharmacy and Echologist he has employed jazz, afrobeat and psychedelic semblances to redefine Basic Channel foundations, whilst producing a stockpile of records under his own name for labels like Echocord, Mule and Third Ear Recordings. In 2009 Moeller launched Steadfast, which has continued to be a platform for his more diverse projects—including the deep house collaboration with Chicago-based Area, as Lightness, and his last Echologist album, ‘Subterranean’. Taken from ‘Works’ scheduled for release in April 2012 —Moeller’s idiosyncratic reflection upon “the spirit of techno”—“Wanderer” nods to the genre’s dark and industrial side, whilst it’s crashing hats and surging bass allude to Berlin and the artist’s fomented Berghain affiliation. Growling, guttural strata and robotic peals further cement it as one of Moeller’s more dystopian creations and most driving effort to date. Jonas Kopp toughens “Wanderer” into one of his signature marching workouts, sliced with urgent stabs. Tommy Four Seven on the other hand picks up the track’s shimmering melody—at the fore in its pre-mastered state, made available here in digital form—and tousles it with his distinctive bone-crushing beatwork and crunchy, field-generated padding. The ‘Wanderer EP’ will also be released on vinyl in an exclusive package with the album. The second EP from the album should be out end of March. Terence Fixmer - When The Earth (5:42) Electric Deluxe are pleased to announce ‘When The Sun’, the latest EP from French protagonist Terence Fixmer. Fixmer first cut his teeth on International Deejay Gigolos, aligning his early EBM and industrial-steeped brand of techno with DJ Hell’s cult and audacious label. Teaming up with Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy, in 2002 he continued to explore the stylistic union as Fixmer / McCarthy, marrying his coined “techno body music” with the sensuality of pop on records for Synthetic Symphony and his own Planet Rouge imprint. Solo, he has fomented a relationship with Electric Deluxe since his 2009 EP Machine. His sound has persistently bridged the past and present in a tenacious refinement of modern techno, climaxing in his debut long player for the label, Comedy of Menace. After the skulking ‘Le Terrible’, Terence Fixmer plunges deep on his Electric Deluxe return to present new works of lush and dubby techno. As its title suggests opener, “When The Sun”, bounds in on a light and jovial vibe—an instant warmer, arriving just in time to thaw the clench of winter with dreamy pads and a sparkling summer-bleached melody. “When The Moon” is its evening accompaniment, continuing the kinetic energy through to nightfall with a springy, rubber-ball bassline that drives the track home. “When The Earth” concludes on a more Fixmer-recognisable note. Employing signature industrial touches and dark to spooky atmospherics he delivers another stunning piece of dance floor hypnotism. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Hans Bouffmyhre - Therapy (6:44) Electric Deluxe are pleased to announce another signature EP-tool package from its newest affiliate Hans Bouffmyhre: Hypnosis EP marking the Glaswegian’s label debut in excellent fashion. At just 24 years old, the Paisley man and self-proclaimed techno obsessive has already amassed an impressive amount of records for several formidable labels including Perc Trax, Synewave and 8 Sided Dice. Hans—real name Stephen Gorrie—started out like most music fanatics: promoting his own parties and DJing in his hometown. Production naturally ensued and in 2008 Sleaze the label was born. Today Gorrie’s humble enterprise has flourished into an established and globetrotting empire, complete with mastering and booking agency and sibling label, Smut. Erstwhile Gorrie’s own works over the years have been garnering interest from some of the scene’s biggest players. For Electric Deluxe Hans Bouffmyhre turns in three pieces of deep and driving techno, taking his minimalistic tendencies down much darker, surging trajectories. Amply titled lead track “Hypnosis” roves over a pounding kick drum and classic ride sample that has already been whipping floors into a frenzy. Here both the beat and its beatless swirling counterpart have been supplied as tools for the digital DJs to get creative with. “Planetoid” is even more ominous—a veritably evil techno serpent, coiled and rattling, ready to strike. “Therapy” concludes in a “straight up, no nonsense” fashion, says Gorrie—and we are more than inclined to agree. This one’s for the first-pumpers. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Brendon Moeller - Writing Wrongs (Craig McWhinney Remix) (7:08) Gearing up for the release of Works, Brendon Moeller’s long player homage to ‘the spirit of techno’, Electric Deluxe taps two of the album’s polar moments for remixes to deliver Work Ethics. Selecting one of Works’ toughest tracks for the A-side, ‘Adjust to the Fading Light’, the EP opens with a rare vocal refix from Berghain resident Ben Klock. Whilst difficult to pin Klock’s productions to any particular style, as a remixer he’s proven even more versatility and vision, reworking artists as diverse as Martyn, Kenny Larkin and Depeche Mode to Emptyset and Steve Bug. Meanwhile Moeller mutes the hats and brings the track’s whirring dystopian bed to the fore with his Echologist version, jettisoning its original surge for more swollen and experimental terrains. On the flip, Works’ luscious dubbed out number ‘Writing Wrongs’ is pulled further apart and dragged to dark subaqueous depths by Echospace duo Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell as cv313. Melbourne-based producer Craig McWhinney on the other hand takes ‘Writing Wrongs’ in the other direction entirely, soaring past Moeller’s original to conclude Work Ethics on a hazy sun kissed dub trip that’s altogether soothing, light and mesmerising. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Brendon Moeller - Adjust To Fading Light (7:07) Electric Deluxe are proud to announce Works, the ninth studio album from dub techno purveyor Brendon Moeller. Conceived in late 2010 and inchoately developed during a spell in Amsterdam with EDLX head Jochem Paap overseeing the project, Works flaunts Moeller at the height of danceabilty whilst remaining true to his steeped lineage as a maker of textured, atmospheric and subaqueous electronic music. “I began thinking hard about what kind of album I was trying to make. After much pondering I decided the best way forward would be to make an album that reflects both my own idiosyncrasies as well as try and capture what I believe to be the spirit of techno.” After the experimental Subterranean—a near beatless record comprised from a single live mixdown of sounds collated over the course of a year—under his Echologist moniker, Works shifts focus back to the dance floor with a collection of propulsive techno tracks, saturated with the visceral groove that has come to define Moeller’s discography. From the submerged and spacious “Writing Wrongs” and bleepy, strung-out antics of “Far Out” to the house-kissed “Take A Dive Into The Sound” and darker, chugging cuts that close Works, the album pools together the threads of a prolific production history, spanning almost two decades, into a single succinct long player. “It was the final stages of putting together the album where I went into a sort of manic obsessive behavior. I knew the clock was ticking and I desperately wanted to be sure that every track, every mix of every track was as good as it could be. Jochem’s feedback and tactful suggestions helped shape these tracks into what they are now. I’m super proud of these and simply cannot wait to hear them on different sound systems all over the world.” With a particular nod to his other Beat Pharmacy alias—affiliated exclusively with Francois K’s Deep Space Media label and New York party— Moeller’s expansive output has fused dub and techno with jazz, afrobeat and psychedelic pastiches to carry on as much as refashion Basic Channel heritage into his own distinctive patois. But what makes Works a truly unique product of his is Paap’s influence over the record. “Off The Grid”, “Wanderer” and “Adjust To The Fading Light” are as some of the toughest bass-driven efforts from Moeller to date, balancing some of the album’s brighter tracks like “In Pursuit” with techno’s pounding industrial heartbeat. The result is an eclectic imagining of the genre—showing the many sides and emotions of techno, and Moeller himself. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Though Raíz first appeared—on record—only a few years ago, for a decade now Vidal & Vangelis Vargas, together with Drumcell, have been flying the flag for the west coast techno community as Droid Behaviour—the much touted event collective and label based in LA. Initially operating as the live PA outfit Acid Circus, utilising a blend of hardware and digital programs the pair have long established themselves both as formidable performers and astute producers, with a characteristically dynamic and streamlined approach to sound design. Years of classical training and a rich bed of musical influences also inform the Raíz sound, which takes its cues from Detroit and the deeper side of techno. On the other side of the US: as founder, resident and creative director of Oktave, Jeff Derringer has become a key protagonist of underground techno in Chicago and New York over the last three years. Production-wise, following a stunning Subtrak debut in August 2010, he has since become aligned with Ali Wells’ respected Perc Trax imprint with a string of equally well received EPs. For their first studio effort together Raíz and Jeff Derringer go straight for the jugular to deliver two pieces of dangerously robust marching material. From the Berghain-ready “Deception” to the severely precise “Deceit” there’s nothing misleading about ‘Deception EP’’s merciless floor orientations. Black Asteroid - Pressure (5:00) 04. Black Asteroid - Lunar Landing (5:57) After exploding onto the scene last year with the highly charged and widely acclaimed CLR debut, ‘The Engine EP’, Bryan Black revises his BlackAsteroid guise to present ‘Black Acid’: five tracks of lab-crafted techno, and a deeply groovy entry into the Electric Deluxe stable. Whilst BlackAsteroid is still a fairly fledgling endeavour, Black’s production credentials are as rich as they are steeped. Starting out at Paisley Park Studios as a sound designer for Prince, Black proceeded to foment a passion for techno as the other half of Motor. Signed to Novamute in 2003, over the course of nearly a decade Black and his partner Olivier Grasset consolidated EBM, industrial, pop and electro fusions into four albums and a string of EPs. But it is as BlackAsteroid that Black has come into his own as a unique and highly skilled sonic engineer, with ‘Black Acid’ marking further steps towards a purer, and yet boundless engagement with techno. “This EP is about chemistry and space. I chose to focus on raw, analogue sounds. I spent a lot of time playing with white noise, static and sub bass, often layering them together and coming up with new sounds in the process.” From the EP’s punchy granular title track to the meticulous disorder surrounding “Hydrogen” and palette of alien, mechanical sounds that proliferate throughout—distinctly towards the EP’s space-themed closers: “Pressure”, “Lunar Landing” and “Lunar Escape”—‘Black Acid’ is an inventive and ever intriguing record. Like some estranged and maverick alchemist, Bryan Black mixes drops of discordant home-brewed noise with plenty of infectious floor-ready rhythms to form compounds that transcend straight listening and danceable orientations. Indeed, whether an aficionado of sound or simple beat junkie, ‘Black Acid’ will lure you in with one and hook you with the other. Turn up the bass and dive deep into its timbres to discover the weird and wonderful vistas of BlackAsteroid’s sonic imagining. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Philogresz - Some Heavy Shit (Fixed by Brendon Moeller) (7:09) Last May Brendon Moeller released his ninth studio album, ‘Works’, showcasing a new and decidedly club-oriented sound. The album itself was the product of a yearlong collaboration between Moeller and Electric Deluxe’s Jochem Paap in a peer-to-peer-type flow of creativity the label has become known for, resulting in a unique assimilation of both artists’ sonic signatures. Plying his veteran dub tropes to more classic techno frames, Moeller crafted a truly transcendental record full of versatile and profoundly engaging material—be it on extended listens at home or in a club. Since then Moeller has taken ‘Works’ to floors worldwide, and completed a campaign to ‘fix’ the track of a budding producer’s to be including in a pending release. ‘Extra Works’ is the outcome, and a rich posthumous summation of the project with fresh remixes and a new track from Moeller himself. First up, fellow analogue champion Mike Parker offers an icy, stripped-down interpretation of the protracted wonky thinker “Far Out”, with tough thundering bass pulses and all the ominous atmospheres of feeling stranded deep in outer space. “Just another way to fly”, a new work from Brendon Moeller, continues the cosmic theme with a retroactive meander through bygone sci-fi. Full of machine-crafted sounds and fluctuating rhythmical patterns “Just Another Way To Fly” is a fine example of Moeller’s experimental and un-orchestrated approach to production, and the kind of unique and potent results that can evolve through his improvised methodology. Speedy J then presents a very special edit of “Far Out” in this trimmed down version of the sprawling 15-minute original Moeller first sent over at the start of the collaboration. Unlike previous “Far Out” tracks, there’s nothing languorous about Speedy J’s hastened cut, delivered however with all the poise and hypnotic qualities we’ve come to expect from the Electric Deluxe head. released May 31, 201 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Black Asteroid - Hydrogen (Angel Costa & DJ Emerson Remix) (6:25) Raw analogue alchemies delivered with all the sleek and polish of its black-on-black casing made Bryan Black’s EDLX debut last year as blackasteroid a truly memorable one, consolidating all of the Motor man’s proven Paisley Park-honed engineering capabilities into a succinct and forward-facing EP. Defined by its gritty textures, fizzy white noise manipulations and a signature mechanical hum throughout, ‘Black Acid’ achieved a uniquely tactile sound quality, reaffirming Bryan Black as a formidable one to watch under his revised blackasteroid guise. Recently Perc, Alva Noto, Len Faki, Angel Costa and DJ Emerson presented a series of pithy reinventions of the EP’s three lead tracks: “Black Acid”, “Hydrogen” and “Pressure”, turning in a thoroughly versatile remix package complete with fresh nuances ranging from peak time basement material to more pensive headphone moments. A recomposed body of original ‘Black Acid’ sonic material, once more sheathed in stunning minimalistic design—this time in reverse: white on white, with contrasting materials (matte laminate on the cover and a high gloss UV varnish in the detail) providing the sole differentiating factor. This particularly considered art direction was the result of a creative collaboration between Bryan Black (a designer himself and responsible for the bulk of Motor’s artwork), Jochem Paap and EDLX designer Jan Willem van den Ban from Enchilada. Choosing to diversify from the usual colourfulness and moiré structures of EDLX, the monotone colour palette and minimal aesthetic sets these pieces apart as highly collectable art objects, meanwhile rendering the blackasteroid project in a very physical, very personal way—thoughtful design in both sleeve and sound. In Jan Willem’s words: “To mimic the dark and powerful tracks with sounds emerging and submerging, the sleeve shows all the shades of black possible. The design of the ‘Remix EP’ has a similar visual parallel with the music; in the way the remixes are deconstructed and reassembled from the source material, the artwork reworks the same variables and puts them together in a different mixture. The result is a minimal and monolithic object, that reflects differently from every angle and forms a logical and rock solid pair of releases.” released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Giorgio Gigli - Rational Understanding (7:15) Reflect and Rationalisations with Giorgio Gigli. After a decade of releasing on labels like Mental Groove, Dumb Unit and Prologue—outside his co-owned and well-fashioned Zooloft stable, as a producer Giorgio Gigli has long hit his stride. Since emerging on Rome-based Elettronica Romana, Gigli has honed a distinctly dark take on trippy, dystopic-tinged techno—especially so with partner Obtane. Together they have built Zooloft into an insightful and admired go-to for intelligent, progressive music, as rewarding on the club floor as in listening contexts. In 2011 Gigli made his EDLX debut as Endless, a collaboration between himself and Perc, which saw their solo sound qualities of hypnotic rhythms and abrasive beats navigated to new heights over two track and tool EPs. Now Gigli returns to the label for the first time solo with Inside. True to form both “Further Reflection” and “Rational Understanding” are heady examples of just how powerful Gigli’s minimalistic approach can be. Both clocking in at over seven minutes each, Gigli charms with loops and intoxicating atmospheres, weaving in smoky curlicues from time to time, but essentially letting long and loping rhythms carry you out of time, place, and consciousness. Close your eyes, shut down your thoughts, let there be music and nothing else. Once again special attention has be turned to the artwork of this release, transforming the vinyl package into another desirable and highly collectable physical object. EDLX’s in-house designer Jan Willem van den Ban spent much time deliberating on a conceptual and creatively challenging sleeve concept, in the end settling on laser cutting manipulations of the record itself. “I’ve always liked the idea of designing by deleting. The obvious method to construct a design is to combine and add data or material. To work the other way around offers new challenges and opportunities. Laser cutting is a great technique for this idea and especially with a title like Inside, you want to show what you otherwise can’t see. So finally vinyl not only has an A and B side, you now also see a C-side.” released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

This is the fourth stand-alone EP from him for Electric Deluxe, on top of his last LP ‘Comedy Of Menace,’ and resembles three more exquisite samples of what the techno veteran does best. Almost a counter-point to Fixmer’s last EDLX release—the dubby, warmed through ‘When The Sun’ EP—‘Bells’ is a homage to the pitch black dancefloors of the night, with all his hypnotism and industrial hues in place. “Bells” opens right in the thick of it, with alarm knells and viscous vapours swirling round a lasso loop that will hook you til sunrise. “In Chains” is it’s raw, and scrunchy cousin—just as dark, unsettled, and riled with analogue sounds. But as midnight begins to dip into eternity, closer “Subspace Two” offers up a lasting sunny reprieve. The EP ends on a serotonin-soaked moment where dub, techno and house close their eyes and sway as one. ‘Bells’ is a versatile record, which sees Terence Fixmer cater for every nocturnal occasion. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Now the young Glaswegian is back with more heavy hitting slabs of his “no nonsense” type of techno. Hans Bouffmyhre, real name Stephen Gorrie, is definitely one of the harder working twenty-somethings in the scene today. Since turning to production in 2007 he has released a frightening number of records for labels like Perc Trax, Viva Music, Soma, and 8 Sided Dice; all the while keeping abreast of a busy gig schedule and manning his just as prolific Sleaze Records. In that time his discography has coursed through techno’s many variants, but minimalism and a purest aesthetic have remained steadfast traits throughout. On ‘Catapult’ Gorrie plays to his strengths, turning in four blends of tension-building techno crafted with all the poise and subtleties we’ve come to expect from him. “Catapult” is the EP’s teasing opener before Gorrie plunges ever further into the aching, growling belly of the beast. “Mesmeric” is as it’s name suggests, heady hypnotism in it’s wildest form. “Pulsing” slams ‘Catapult’ into sweaty peak time with pistons and alarm bells, leaving “Secret Strobe” to keep this dystopic party marching well past dawn. We said ‘Hypnosis’ was dark; ‘Catapult’ then is verging on evil. released May 31, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Now comes the first in a two-part EP for Electric Deluxe, titled ‘Foreign Awake’, a much broodier spacy homage than we’ve yet heard from the pair. Shying away from usual PR and biographies, Sawlin, Subjected and their third Vault Series member Mørbeck have been making names for themselves on the weight of their music alone. Raw, industrial hues, distortion and chest-caving basslines are some of the tropes that have coloured their anonymous ascension to date. While Sawlin has strayed a little from the Vault camp, Subjected has yet to release elsewhere. Until now. In April Subjected released his debut LP, ‘Zero’, which channeled his and the label’s respected tough and concept-free aesthetic into a fully functioning full length. But for Electric Deluxe they’ve served up something all together different. Swapping their usual gung-ho floor artillery for swirling atmospheric vistas, subtle tones and cavernous empty spaces, ‘Foreign Awake pt.1’ sees Sawlin & Subjected paint chilling, post-apocalypse landscapes in three parts. Deep, dark and dangerously hypnotic, this is Sawlin & Subjected at their most compelling. Sawlin & Subjected – Textures – by EDLX’s in-house designer Jan Willem van den Ban Consistent with their music and profile, the artwork for the Sawlin & Subjected releases had to be similarly dark and enigmatic. Over the last few years they’ve been making their presence known with a series of unbridled releases for labels like Horizontal Ground, Black Sun Records, Repitch Recordings and their own self-titled stable. “Harder” has indeed been the duo’s mantra, bellowed stony-faced from the rasping recedes of industrial’s brittle outer rim. But it hasn’t always been this way. Before the broken bones and caustic, pitch-black tear-outs there’s been deep and dubby reprieves, techy dubstep and even washed-out drum and bass on the likes of Idle Hands, Project Squared and Hidden Hawaii all with equaled astuteness. It’s clear there’s little out of AnD’s reach, and they’re certainly not bowing down to anyone. ‘Kundalini’ then, AnD’s debut EP for Electric Deluxe, is not something to be taken lightly. The EP opens with a trio of patented AnD-style monsters, cataclysmic techno siblings all venomous and rusted through. It’s a dark and unforgiving trail with these guys as drill sergeant, until “ICDBYC” that is. Not quite the calm before the storm, here we have AnD pull back from the bloody onslaught to turn a cleaner, more calculated sort ofweapon. Cool and tactical shadow skulking, trimmed with IDM. Three chillingly subtle and pensive pieces, far removed from the pair’s usual brew of anxious, distortion-heavy techno productions that can be found on their co-run Vault Series outlet. Using EDLX to step away from the dancefloor a little, ‘Foreign Awake Pt.1’ saw the Berlin-based duo tap into headier climes using loops and tingling atmospheres with the faintest of heartbeats. ‘Foreign Awake Pt.2’ picks up the pace, however, with three more “Textures” halfway between ‘Pt.1’’s ethereal wanderings and the pair’s deeper Vault Series offerings. On the A-side “Texture 1.1” and “Texture 1.2” wraps typical Vault tropes with acid-washed melodies and grainy distorted pads, turning two rusty, hydraulic workouts into weirder and warmer dancefloor reliefs. “Texture 5” then, on the B-side, concludes with more yin and yang experiments, pooling ‘Foreign Awake’’ gentler, dream-like sentiments together with punishing bass, splices of hats and mechanical modulations that keep the reverie in check; a must for Sawlin & Subjected fans, and anyone who likes their techno a little on the stranger side. Black Asteroid - Metal (Pinion Version) (7:35) released May 29, 2014 Bryan Black AKA Black Asteroid returns to Electric Deluxe with his most precise and daring invention yet. ‘Metal’ picks up from where the ‘Black Acid EP’ left off with more sonic alchemies sounding unlike anything else. The former Prince engineer turned MOTOR front man turned galvanic techno DJ, producer and performer has had an incredible run in his latest guise. Since debuting on CLR with ‘The Engine EP’ over a series of well-shaped and energetic releases Bryan Black has forged a distinct and unique signature that is tactile, otherworldly and utterly timeless. Ingenious sound design has become his calling card, while Black’s award winning MOTOR heritage never seems far behind. Moments on ‘Black Acid’ felt like he brought the band to the DJ booth. And with ‘Metal’ the sentiment rings even truer. This is “heavy metal techno,” says Black, “but in a very restrained and controlled way.” Indeed the hum of guitars (synths routed through guitar pedals) whirr through lead track “Metal,” a taut and punchy workout spliced with token Black Asteroid weirdness. Meanwhile Black gets even more contained on the masterfully metronomic “Turbine”. Droid affiliate Luis Flores and Pinion (Bobby Dowell) then split “Metal” off into its opposing sectors. Flores takes things straight the dance floor, while Pinion ramps up the noise and clangor to turn in a real unholy “Metal” monster. Another must for Black Asteroid fans and for those who like their techno cast from mysterious molds. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Behind the decks, Jeff Derringer is a name well known as founder and visionary of the renowned Oktave parties in the US. And in recent years he has built up a solid discography to match. An impressive debut on New York-based label Subtrak back in 2010 caused Perc’s Ali Wells to sit up and take notice. A trio of Perc Trax releases quickly followed, laying the foundations for Jeff’s dark and hypnotic style of techno that has since been picked up by labels M_Rec Recordings and Prosthetic Pressings. Jeff’s last work with Raiz for EDLX, ‘Deception EP’, was merciless, robust and went straight in for the kill. And his solo effort, 'Beat to Quarters', is no different. Title track opens with spitting hats and chugging intent before space-blips, ticks and typical Derringer-charged atmospherics storm in. EDLX mainstay Giorgio Gigli then ups the ante on his “Variation” with swirling foreboding strings and muted mutant clicks, turning “Beat To Quarters” into a menacing 8 minute-long epic. Then on the flip, Jeff goes in weirder with “The Stranger”. Full of itchy claps, crashes and deep space tones there’s plenty here to keep you busy. The EP concludes with a cool and creeping remix from Voices From the Lake – their first outing on the label. It explains why D’n’B nestles with ease amongst the blistering 4/4 material; and suggests there could well be more fluctuations to come. But this time it’s a pretty no-nonsense affair. On the A-side “Cosmic Strings” is as delirious as any stone cold Tresor classic. Then on the flip, “Photon Visibility Function” coils dark and brooding atmospherics round the most malevolent concoction of AnD-isms. This one has been made to split the club right open, paving the way for the duo’s debut full-length album, ‘Cosmic Microwave Background’, to fill the void this Fall. Expect more cosmos-themed compositions both of and well beyond AnD’s sonic system, due out in October. The sleeve artwork has been created from a series of paintings by AnD themselves, reinterpreted here by EDLX’s own in-house designer Jan Willem van de Baan into a set of industrial-evoking pieces inspired by the sound and aesthetics of the EP. The album “Cosmic Microwave Background” will be out on October 20th, serving as the final high point of this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, where Electric Deluxe is hosting a showcase on Saturday in the legendary industrial building Gashouder with AnD finishing off the night. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

AnD - The Surface of Last Scattering (5:15) released August 25, 2015 “In the universe, there are things that are known, and things that are unknown. And, in between, there are doors.” Having honed a clear and uncompromising sound, which has been flexed across all manner of tempos, AnD return to Electric Deluxe with their first full body of work: a sonic contemplation of the cosmos, woven with all their industrial tropes in tact. The venomous hats and cavernous rumblings on “Power Spectrum”, the caustic squeals of “Acoustic Oscillations” and the anxious pistons in “Gravitational Waves”, for example, should instantly resonate with fans of the duo’s wanton dancefloor works. But another cataclysmic compilation this is not. ‘Cosmic Microwave Background’ is a far more composed and calculated affair, which sees the AnD sound assiduously recast into long-player format. The analogue bleeps of “Particle” and grainy textures in “The Epoch of Recombination” are some of the fluctuations that temper AnD’s debut album into a solid listening experience, meanwhile exposing some of the pair’s fluid and intuitive working process—with themselves as much as with their machines. Juxtaposing production precision with more freeform composition, ‘Cosmic Microwave Background’ as an opus is as intriguing and unexpected in its entirety as it’s individual parts—for the vinyl collectors, reordered here into a double LP of functional floor material and more experimental pieces. Not that the album is quite so black and white. There are anomalies such as “Non-Sky Signal Noise” which tread the velveteen grey area in between, with truly rewarding results. On ‘Cosmic Microwave Background’ AnD have found their door between worlds, and flung it wide open. DJ Red - Destiny (6:12) released August 25, 2015 Dark and sensual, light yet intoxicating; the sound of DJ Red’s Electric Deluxe debut, ‘Duality’, is so in everyway. With over 15 years experience in residence at Rome’s renowned Goa Club, as a DJ Simona Calvani’s penchant for sultry, minimalistic techno has finally made its way onto record in the form of this round and immersive three-track EP. A trio of releases for Unpolite Records, followed up by last year’s ‘Eyes Are Blind’ on BPitch, marked DJ Red’s entry into production. But ‘Duality’ sees Calvani command the subtle yet potent timbres that have defined her career so far. “Duality” opens with charged and edgy pads before breaking out into a deeply groovy saunter. Then on the flip, “Double Vision” rolls grumbling bass through a fog of building atmospherics before concluding on an ambient IDM tip with “Destiny”. All in all ‘Duality’ is a brooding listen and powerful entry into the EDLX fold. ‘Duality’ is the first installment from this budding production force. Arad - Tapper (5:16) released August 26, 2015 Over the years Electric Deluxe has become a beacon for established names to test out new projects, and it’s with great pleasure we welcome another unknown into the fold. Arad is the freshfaced solo guise of Dara Smith, best known as one half of Lakker. Together with partner Ian McDonell, the pair have been making music for over a decade, in recent years honing their insidious and deftly idiosyncratic take on techno for labels like Blueprint, Stroboscopic Artefacts and R&S. But whilst McDonell has found the time to prune his own solo career as Eomac, Smith has been fully occupied with Lakker and working as a motion graphics designer. Until now, that is. ‘Haon EP’ is Smith’s debut release as Arad. Bolstered by years of experimentation and experience, and written with the same capricious approach to style that’s made Lakker’s rise such a joy to chart, ‘Haon EP’ is a veritable feast of intriguing composition and influences. Opening with the aptly titled roller “Basswave” and screwed-up sounds of “Fourty Four” before flipping over to the staccato march of “Gedup awa dat” and warped Warpness of closer “NCS”, ‘Haon EP’ is one for the headphones as much for the dancefloor, that continues to reward with every listen. Digital bonus tracks “Grand Job” and “Tapper” then show Smith take another turn entirely, proving Arad to be a project definitely worth keeping tabs on. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Subjected - Zopiklona (6:22) released August 26, 2015 After teaming up with Sawlin to deliver a series of spacy “Texture” works, dubbed ‘Foreign Awake Pt.1 & Pt.2’, Subjected returns to Electric Deluxe this time in searing solo guise. Known for his thundering, no-holds-barred basement style, which until ‘Foreign Awake’ was kept purely to his cloistered Vault Series outlet, with ‘Dolor’ we see the industrial edges polished smooth in this rotund and rolling three-track EP. “Krupp” opens in typical rumbling Vault fashion that builds into a gargled mechanical reprieve and back again. On the B-side, “Dolor” applies Subjected’s rusted signature to a groovy subzero bassline and blue-note melody, the EP’s duly crowned peak-time lead. “Wute” then concludes with the sort of venomous hypnotism followers of Electric Deluxe should be familiar with by now, albeit this one has a more scuffed and tarnished appeal. Then for the digital fans, “Zopiklona” presents a slightly cleaner, bleepy bonus track with one killer charged drum crescendo. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of our sun, we will not survive forever.” Change is constant, collapse inevitable. With ‘Inevitable Collapse’ new project FAR rejects templates and dancefloor patterns, turning in four works of spontaneous techno contemplations. On the A-side “Hypocrite” opens with billowy, retroactive synths, weaved into some desolate sci-fi landscape. “Ignite” then wields hand drums and sparse electronic meditations akin to early Shackleton-meets-Aphex Twin through a Polygon Window. “Carrier” on the B-side is as chugging techno as it gets, albeit haunted by a deconstructive FAR presence. Finally “Smash The Walls” concludes in rolling waves of unpredictable surf. Recorded in long single takes and produced with solicitous mix-downs, ‘Inevitable Collapse’ is an intriguing debut for those more peripherally inclined. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

But even suspended somewhere deep in the voids of space, the duo’s industrial insignia was never too far away. To remix the record, then, it made sense to honour it’s foundations with a carefully curated cast gathered from techno’s outer rim. Giorgio Gigli - Shades of Depth (6:28) Giorgio Gigli presents his debut album “The Right Place Where Not to Be” after a period of personal growth due to his work on his own imprint Zooloft Records, in the same way his DJ sets reflect the spirit of that evolution. He explores sophisticated ambient layers as much as obsessive and hypnotic techno landscapes. “The Right Place Where Not to Be” is the title of Giorgio’s first full-length “sonic movie”, a work emerging from the depth of his soul and which properly filters every musical input he’s developed over the years. The album takes its outset in a scenario where all human and animal life-forms have perished and only plants and minerals have survived. Giorgio performs that concept writing an ultra-detailed soundtrack to an imaginary movie, using rich textures that reveal new acoustics, enhanced by alienating atmospheres that captivate the listener. The album is focused on obsessive rhythmics cut on low frequencies, a persistent motion, and a stable tremor. The world is justifying its life-forms in detail. The sky is darkened by laden clouds and stratified sonics that electrify the sound of space. Blooming sensations that cover a wide spectrum, alternate from a feverish tension to the lightness of faith. Confines are rejected, techno meets ambient, purging our body of consciousness. A sonic bubble from a faraway era, a timeless atmosphere that describes a vision that seems to answer to the most important question: why? The task of creating an album is brilliantly managed in a manner that cinematically depicts a surreal concept without the loss tension. The experience of the music is enhanced by the intricate artwork with an evocative artwork that expresses Giorgio’s concept: The sequence of mountains dominated by clouds on a clear sky and the depths of flowers are tinged with the memory of a wonderful past. The black and white photographies were taken in the Dolomites mountains with an old Hasselblad camera by Marcello and Alessandro Gianvenuti, and subsequently enhanced with watercolour-painted textures. The whole graphical project was curated by Studio Lord Z. released October 23, 2015 All tracks written and produced by Giorgio Gigli. Recorded in Rome between March of 2013 until October 2014. Mixed by Luciano Lamanna at Subsound Studio in Rome. Mastered by Andrea Merlini. Artwork and design by Studio Lord Z. The graphic concept mixes watercolour elements into photographs. Words like “rowdy”, “boisterous” and “ragged” have been used to describe Calum Macleod and Liam Robertson’s voluminous output together on the likes of Soma and Fifth Wall, with the unlikely Turbo shouldering most of the brunt. And since the release of their album, Ghost Systems Rave, Clouds have only gotten more gnarled and savage, as their Tannhauser Acid Works series and latest cassette release for Opal Tapes will attest. But [ EDLX046 ] could be their most formidable yet. From a clean slate Clouds present four scuzzy techno cuts full of rattling irreverence that settle in nicely between AnD’s gun-slinging and Sawlin & Subjected’s heady, virulent soundscapes. On the A-side “Maverick Scrabble” dives straight in without pausing for breath whilst “Castres Olympique” slides around on un-oiled hinges as it layers itself up over time. Dramatic chords, rattles, bells, static noise and industrial pangs are all woven in, making this a densely packed and textural number. Then on the flip “Coast Range Arc” is like a blast from some cavernous subterranean workshop fathoms below the surface, leaving “Polgate Slamen” to close things on a tough, tight and itchy tip. “Fixed Kaos Network Fee” is your digital freebee that’s big, bold and wildly unpredictable—use it well. released January 27, 2016 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

DJ Red - Underwater (Zeitgeber Remix) (9:06) released August 12, 2016 Goa Club favourite Simona Calvani AKA DJ Red returns to Electric Deluxe with Underwater, the follow-up to her sensual and sumptuous debut Duality from 2014. After Arad’s deftly innovative Particles and Waves LP and Justin Broadrick’s exceptionally antagonistic catalogue entry as JK Flesh, Underwater makes for a sleek and functional edition to the newly formed EDLX LMTD run of releases. Original tracks “Underwater” and “Sweet Silence” are complimented by a set of more experimental remixes from Ukrainian dissenter Stanislav Tolkachev and Speedy J and Lucy as Zeitgeber. Both production outfits have been known to subvert the norm and their two rewrites here are no exception. Broadrick’s output is an intimidating one. Not because it is so incredibly raucous and dirty-sounding, for the most part. It’s just that there is so much of it. His earliest venture began, aged 15, with the recording of his first—and last—record with Napalm Death. From there he formed pioneering industrial metal group Godflesh, who released a slew of seminal albums on Earache throughout the ’90s. In the meantime he’d met Kevin Martin, AKA The Bug, and began experimenting with everything from dub and techno to hip-hop, breakbeat and rowdy ambience as Techno Animal. Together they produced four albums under the moniker, plus a collaboration with Porter Ricks, ultimately bowing out on the monolithic ‘The Brotherhood Of The Bomb’ for Matador in 2001. In 1999 Broadrick founded Avalanche Recordings, which would serve as an outlet for some of his more expansive millennial work, namely as Final, Jesu and JK Flesh. Jesu was born from the ashes of Godflesh, a deeply genuine and emotional project that channeled all the raw anguish of his former band into more contemplative post-industrial and shoe-gazing song-structures. Final, a minimal ambient-guitar project—which actually pre-dates Godflesh—was recently picked up by Downwards, who put out the seven-track double vinyl ‘Black Dollars’ at the start of 2016. They backed ‘Nothing Is Free’ next, complete with Surgeon remix, credited this time to Broadrick’s JK Flesh guise. There’s also the somber and ethereal Pale Sketcher alias, which grew out of a remix album of Jesu material on Ghostly International. JK Flesh debuted proper in 2012 with the album ‘Posthuman’ on 3BY3, but it’s lineage can be traced right back to Kevin“K-Mart” Martin and the pair’s psychedelic industrial techno project, The Sidewinder, which was picked up by Mille Plateaux in 1996. The studio pet-name would later become his surly alter-ego, as Broadrick explained to Resident Advisor in a 2012 interview: “Any remix I would do which had beats that were hard and involved any form of noise or sense of foreboding or threat, I would use the JK Flesh moniker. JK Flesh is the angry, hateful, disenchanted side of what I do with electronic beat-driven, bass-driven music. It’s got a lot more to boot.” And it does. There’s been the stinging ‘Worship Is The Cleansing Of The Imagination’ since, a split with Dominick Fernow as Prurient, and this year’s ‘Suicide Estate’ EP on Fernow’s own Hospital Productions. Now Electric Deluxe has the honour of bringing the next unrelenting JK Flesh album kicking and screaming into the world. Batten down the hatches and prepare for a perilous ride. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

Arad - Waveswimmer (6:02) As a motion graphics designer by day and musician by night, Dara Smith has always been fascinated by audio and visual expression. They are one and the same, he says, and as Arad he’s putting that theory into action. Particles and Waves is his second record under the moniker after Haon and unveils more a focused concept with all of his loose modus operandi in tact. Like his work with Ian McDonnell as Lakker, Smith’s solo practice is one in perpetual flux; forever changing and redefining itself whilst drawing from a deep well of musicology. It’s directly indebted to his DJ sets, too, which cover techno in its purest form right to the very fringes of the dancefloor with brokenbeat, Gqom and Fwd influence included. It’s music written intuitively, with laissez-faire sentiment that doesn’t extended beyond the granular of the now. As a result, it cannot be defined in terms of style or structure but rather in its detailed and supremely diligent approach to sound design. With Arad, Smith is bringing his two worlds ever closer together. It is a project born from the audio-visual intersection with exclusive artwork produced here by Smith himself in symbiosis with the music. Particles and Waves then is the first real step towards a singular Arad language that works across all of the senses. Dax J - Breaking Visions (2:19) Illusions of Power is about political corruption, the collapse and seizure of control, sparring nations, war, drugs, gangs and the fraudulent, media systems that spin it all into rolling, fear-mongering 24 hour loops. Illusions of Power is about the horrors of the modern world and a humanity haunted by its bloodied past. But as every long dark tunnel comes to an end, Illusions of Power too has its glimmers of hope. Written with an arsenal of hardware gear from the Londoner’s studio in Berlin, Dax J’s Electric Deluxe debut is a militant, yet atmospherical dancefloor assault. As he has proven over a slew of EPs for EarToGround Records and labels like LDNWHT, Deeply Rooted, Clergy and his own Monnom Black label, his sound is a compelling and thoroughly contemporary one. Dax J’s productions are typically mercurial, informed by the past and fortified with a wide range of influences from acid and ambient, to jungle and drum & bass. His EPs are rich, kaleidoscopic ventures involving an array of tempos and moods, and Illusions of Power is no different. In “Reign Of Terror” and “Harry The Hatchet” on the A-side, and “Zulu Nation” and “The Quest” on the flip, Dax J flexes sinewy techno muscle in his rave-inciting idiom where the new and the oldschool collide. Then in the angst-ridden “Cartagena Square” (built around field recordings from Cartagena in South America) and dreamy breakbeats of “Breaking Visions” Illusions of Power present two very different diversions from the dance. In one there is light and a sense of relief; in the other, shadowy omens of the world are massing. Clouds - Rush In 2 Orbit (Skinnergate) (5:11) ‘HTID: Heaven-sent Tekno Impakting Dancefloors, or Hardcore Till I Die’ is Calum Macleod and Liam Robertson’s third Electric Deluxe record of 2016. As was the case with ‘Timeslip Roadmender’ and follow-up ‘An Outrageous Fate Type’, ‘HTID’ is a chomping, foaming, kinda nutty set of industrial techno-jungle halfbreeds. They were happy party things once, a long long time ago, but after decades festering in a petri dish they turned mutant and multitudinous—which is why there are twice as many of them this time. If a 4/4 pummelling is your thing, “Dinner At Skinja’s” has you covered. “Quest Posse Wanted” meanwhile is bullet-riddled breakbeat, and “Fallout”? That’s the sound of rave resurrected, rewound and rolled back out again. “Rush In 2 Orbit (Skinnergate)” shows off the pair’s abstract side, which a track like “Panosonics” lashes things down into something more club friendly. Stick “Knuckles' Heavy Vanguard” on to get the masses motivated, then drop “Base Damage” to show ‘em you mean business. Once everyone’s knees are good and swollen, float “Floatation Advice” as a peace offering, which actually is anything but. released April 28, 2017 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

AnD - Disturbed Reality (6:32) Although there are hundreds of newer electronic music acts who wield heaviness and saturated sound as their primary weapons, AnD keeps finding bold new ways to separate themselves from the rank and file. The production duo of Andrew and Dimitri - conduits for the industrial music legacy of Manchester - excels at showing that aesthetic extremity does not have to equal monotony, and that it can be applied to any number of song forms. Their new Electric Deluxe LP, Social Decay, is simultaneously one of their most overwhelming and most innovative efforts. This visceral new release comes from the same hazardous, blasted terrain that informs the work of kindred spirits like Kerridge, Oake, and Justin Broadrick’s many projects (Broadrick has incidentally remixed material from AnD’s previous LP). However, there is lots of room to maneuver within this landscape of constant tension, and AnD brings a diversity and story arc to their overloaded attack that distinguishes them from their peers. Whereas AnD’s previous LP Cosmic Microwave Background utilized the duo’s intensity to pay homage to the enormity of the universe and the incomprehensibly violent processes involved in its creation, Social Decay takes things back to earth and right down to a ‘street view’ more gritty and contentious than what Google Maps often reveals. While AnD could have easily made a topical album in the way that classic hip-hop considered itself an alternative news source, they sidestep obviously current affairs in favor of broad concepts that could be applied to any point on the timeline of human struggle. Beginning with a feedback-drenched, shuddering premonition of things to come (“The First Element”), each successive side of the album presents a new level of intensity, itself brought about by increasing levels of tempo and compositional coherence. The first suite of tracks, including “Corrupted Structures” and “Anarchic Rhapsody,” is pure industrial music comprised of multi-layered noise collage, venomous and half-comprehensible whisperings, and rhythm structures that compel listeners to maintain an obedient posture rather than to ecstatically hit the dancefloor. Without completely abandoning this atmosphere, the next four or five tracks flirt more heavily with hip-hop inflected beats and an unmistakable sense of hyper-urban vigilance. Window-rattling tracks such as “Pandemonium” come across like urban audio camouflage meant to defend its users against surveillance by shadowy and invasive entities, while “Screaming Voices” adds infectious EBM sequences to the mix. Just as it seems like the duo is settling in to a groove, the mutant drum-and-bass rhythm and cinematic bombast of “Resisting Authority” strikes with explosive high-tempo energy. As carefully planned out as a well-choreographed, climactic sequence from a Hong Kong action thriller, this is one place where AnD’s dedication to narrative really shines through. “Taking Control” and “Kepler” provide the effective after-shocks to this number, while “Disturbed Reality” closes out the album in an unexpected sense. While many would rely on a reflective, ambient ‘outro’ to help fade listeners back into reality, AnD just keep continuing to deliver the crunching beats and looped warning cries, maybe hinting at the fact that reality is not far removed at all from this record’s representation of it. released September 22, 2017 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)

JK Flesh - Homo Sapiens (6:39) Impresario bone grinder, Justin K Broadrick, has prepared a new album for release on Speedy J's Electric Deluxe label as JK Flesh. Broadrick has resolutely inhabited some dark and punishing corners of the musical landscape in his three decades of music production. Whether as a songwriter, guitarist, drummer, label head, studio producer or electronic alchemist, Broadrick has defined the sublime overlap of misanthropy, noise and arson-spirited audio. Making his initial marks with grindcore and industrial bands Godflesh and Napalm Death beginning in the late 80s, Broadrick’s musical career has arched from blast-beats to head bobbing hypnosis. With a slew of recent releases from his JK Flesh moniker for EDLX, Hospital Productions, Downwards, Pi Electronics and on AnD’s Inner Surface, Broadrick has increasingly taken low-fi cerebral sound exploration into techno’s polluted ozone layer; drifting amongst violent collisions of rusty space junk and taking aim at the outmoded species below. JK Flesh’s 8-track double disk album for Electric Deluxe continues his assault on the failings and folly of humanity with a bludgeoning tour of dub influenced techno. A study in resolution, timber and distortion, the album’s tracks are diverse in mood and groove, but are united by the dark, porous and undulating surface texture of rippling analog treatment. Contemplation of humanity’s chances for extinction or evolution provided Broadrick with the mental scaffolding upon which the album’s inky and caustic eruptions precipitate. Titles like “Different Species” and “Super Human” on the album’s A-side betray his interest in futurist’s trans-humanist musings, while thumping garage baseline and searing interplanetary emergency sirens anchor the tracks in Broadrick’s mastery of noise. The album is generally packed with full-form bass, percussion and machine sounds. Though tracks like the B-side’s “External Transmission” juxtapose rubbery and wiry timbers, like the best of acid, over the low-end’s boiling black cauldron. “Earlier Forms of Life” and “Macromolecules” take morose side-long glances at the dance floor, but primarily develop elegantly grime-filled grooves under the constricting spacial canopies of hyper-detailed delay and reverb. Surface detail and dusty timbers rake the listener’s ear across the minimal composition of “The Next Stage”. The albums closing track, “Homo Sapiens”, drops you into the hopelessly gigantic hull of ship, echoing with sonar, heavy machinery and dulled low-frequencies as your iron tomb cuts across the dead oceans of our planet, or, as Broadrick has spent his musical pursuit, in search of a new one. Consider yourself on notice, a limited edition version of this album, complete with booklet and laser cut sleeve, will be released exclusively over the EDLX bandcamp. released October 5, 2018 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Аудиокодек: FLAC (*.flac)
