On this free to download compilation you’ll find 27 artists with songs from the genres of Synth-, Electro- and Future Pop and Darkwave. Along for the ride are a lot of unknown bands, but also well-known names such as Junksista, Twisted Destiny, Julien-K, Psy'Aviah and Vivien Glass. 3 exclusive tracks are included. The band Machinista joins in with their track “Dark Heart Of Me” in a special Electrozombies version. Parralox contribute their exclusive cover version of Depeche Mode’s “Fools”. And the Argentine band Canal Pop Feat. Josefina Aufranc presents a previously unreleased track. 'Undead And Open-Minded: Volume 1' was set up by Thomas Frenken, who founded the webzine 'Electrozombies' in 2010. As a professional graphic designer he is also responsible for the artwork. As with our debut, we are trying to introduce new bands to our audience and generate new fans. However, our claim is very high and the selection finally fell only on the received cream pieces. The meticulous selection of song quality, as well as the chosen genre Synthpop, Electropop, Futurepop, EBM, Electrorock and Darkwave, makes the Undead And Open-Minded Series probably the best compilations that can be downloaded free. 'Lorelei Dreaming' is produced by Angelspit and 'Hardcore Pong' is a side project by Angelspit. Both songs are definitely worth listening to. The typical handwriting is clearly audible in the songs. Which means you can expect Electropunk on the limit! Another side project is 'Analoge Stereoide' which is an emerging project featuring musicians of the bands 'Alphamay' and 'Rozencrantz'. And then we have a young and extremely talented artist named 'Mei Ohara' on board, which reminds us strongly of the young 'Björk'. Our quality standards are very high, but we want to present to our esteemed and loyal audience only the best newcomers and other local heroes in black. On our well established and popular compilation features also some big scene bands. We are especially happy about the entry of ‘Angelspit‘. ‘Zoog von Rock’ is really one of the coolest socks I know. If you haven’t already done so, you should listen to the current album ‘Black Dog Bite‘. That was produced with three cats on the lap! And they have been fighting all the time! Also, the Belgian act Psy’Aviah is back at the start, which has already participated in the very first Electrozombies compilation. With his track ‘Plan B (Feat. Kyoko Baertsoen)’ from the current album ‘Lightflare’, he is right at the top of the tracklist. The New York Electrorock band "Third Realm" is also represented on the compilation and provides the necessary power. I guess this is a very good reason for paying tribute to this fantastic, dark and pioneering band from the UK. The way to the final release was more difficult than our previous releases. However, we had feared that in advance. The more we are happy that a few well-known scene bands have worked passionately on this tribute. At this point, we would like to thank all those involved wholeheartedly. The special feature of this ‘The Cure’ Tribute is the strong electronic orientation of the genres it contains. This, in turn, gives ‘Curation’ the special character to rediscover the classics in a whole new light. The tracks are best suited to give more energy on the dance floor. Even if this is untypical for a classic The Cure song. Once again it is a truly international work. The artists come from various European countries, including the USA, Argentina and Australia. Auger - Military Fashion Show (4:28) Quietly this year the debut album ‘Anguish‘ by the German EBM / synth pop band ‘And One’ celebrated its 30th anniversary. We took this as an opportunity to dedicate a tribute to this iconic band. And the club classic ‘Metallhammer’ has been around for as long as that! The epitome of the machine cold, German EBM sound. This is only topped by the evergreen ‘Techno Man‘ from the album ‘Flop!‘. It was this song that first drew my attention to And One. Why are we doing a tribute to And One? I think it’s a pity that with many bands the release cycle gets longer and longer with the decades of existence. The periods of drought for the fans become more and more unbearable. With this tribute, we would like to shorten the waiting time until the next long player. So the first reason is very obvious and understandable. The second reason is probably a bit more cerebral. We all (And One fans) know that Steve Naghavi is a big Depeche Mode fan. Everyone knows the childhood pictures of him in his bedroom with the DM posters. Didn’t we all look like that? When I stumbled across one of these pictures, the thought came to me: “There are countless Depeche Mode tribute compilations. Why not And One?”. After a little research, I came across the 2019 tribute ‘Cover Sind Cover‘ again. Generally a good tribute, but with one flaw. Too many repetitions of tracks ‘Techno Man’ is featured three times, ‘Get You Closer’ and ‘Für’ twice. So a tribute with more variation was my goal. Thus ‘Anode (An Electrozombies tribute to And One)‘ was born. German precision work: We count 10 And One cover versions As almost always, I’m happy when the Russian band ‘Fatal Aim’ join us. I love their crisp synthesizer sound, precise execution and fantastic vocals. And like every time, I hope for a debut album from the band. To feature the opener is obligatory in this case. But also other very dear bands and artists like ‘Alphamay’, ‘Ultranoire’ or ‘Orpheus In Red Velvet’ are back on board. Thank you that I can rely on you and that you always deliver good songs. I hope that you will get more fans with each of these outputs. Last mentioned, but not least are the “new kids on the block”. I don't know exactly how many thousands of submissions we received in 2021, but it was actually sufficient for 3 Undead And Open-Minded compilations. And we are very picky about the song selection. On Submithub our acceptance rate currently stands at just 10.2%. That means that out of 10 songs submitted, one makes it onto the Electrozombies site. But not all of them will make it onto the official compilation! Here we sort again, so that we really release a compilation with high quality songs, where we want to support the artist or the band and introduce them to a large audience. What you can always count on is that on the ninth edition of our official compilation 'Undead And Open-Minded' you will again find some snappy synth pop and genre similar songs. Also on Volume 9 of our compilation we offer you a fantastic and diversified variety of high-quality songs from the music genres synth pop, synthwave, dark wave, dark pop, electro pop, new wave and electroclash. I celebrate our opener 'The Look' by the US band 'Pattern 20' because it's beautiful old school synth pop. As well as the song 'You And Me' by 'Split Vision' who have featured on our previous Electrozombies compilations and the And One tribute 'Anode (An Electrozombies tribute to And One)'. A Björk-like song with the vibes of the early 90s is provided by 'Roca.' with the song 'Vibra'. If you love the electroclash of the early 2000s and have always wondered what it sounds like when you mix in dark wave influences, then the song 'Hyperkinetic' by 'Graveyard Gossip' will satisfy your curiosity.
